About
I am the sole proprietor of J. R. Johnston Photography which I started in 2005. I have been in the professional multimedia business since 1996 when I made the transition from amateur to freelance photographer. Since then I have made a career out of capturing moments with a camera and literally painting with light.
I specialize in artistic, portraiture, black and white, boudoir and other sub genres of glamour photography. My work will speak for itself. Because I consider myself an “artist” I generally stay away from weddings and other such events that give me little to no leeway to experiment and be myself.
If you feel I’m the right photographer for you, contact me and we will discuss your next project, its pricing and my availability. For answers to frequently asked questions, I invite you to take a look at my FAQ. I look forward to working with you.
The 1:1 Relationship
The best portraiture comes from the establishment of a friendly working relationship between the photographer and his subject.
It is important, therefore, that the photographer and client have a face-to-face meeting beforehand so details of the shoot may be discussed freely and without restraint. I call it the 1:1 Relationship. This consultation ensures a more productive shoot and more intimate portraits. My faith in the 1:1 Relationship as your photographer is so strong I offer it as a free¹ service to all my clients.
Please contact me when you are ready to discuss your next project.
